A global response through the 21st Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has ensured the world is committed to limit the increase of temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C. However, the Eastern Caribbean is particularly vulnerable given their Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) status and relatively small economies necessitating the need for more targeted and direct action measures such as environmental, energy-related and risk reduction projects, among others to complement global economic mechanisms such as carbon trading to abate global warming.
